ROURKELA: Scores of natural water channels, traditionally irrigating farmlands in Sundargarh district, are now facing the question of existence.

Most of them have either dried up or are on the verge of extinction owing to man-made factors.

The tribal-dominated Sundargarh district is blessed with green canopy and small hill ranges.

BALASORE: The outbreak of bird flu in Murshidabad district of neighbouring West Bengal has spread panic among the poultry farmers in Balasore district. While the border villages in Balasore and Mayurbhanj have been put on alert, Chief District Veterinary Officers (CDVOs) of both the districts have been asked to inspect chicken farms and hatcheries.

BHUBANESWAR: Even as mega projects of the State Government are being delayed because of opposition from locals, the high-level clearance authority (HLCA) today approved 11 projects with an estimated investment of Rs 81,540.39 crore.

The Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) has completed its probe into the alleged mining scam. The IBM would submit its final report to the Centre on February 3. The committee had already visited the mining rich belt of Keonjhar and Sundergarh district. The report would be vital for the Centre to exert pressure on the Government to agree for a CBI probe.
