ROURKELA: The minimum temperature rose in Sundargarh district but remained below the 10 degree Celsius mark today thus continuing with the chill factor. The district recorded a minimum temperature of 7.9 degrees and a maximum of 27.5 degree Celsius.

At least six workers and two senior officers of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) in Orissa's Sundergarh district fell ill on Sunday following leakage of toxic gas in one of its blast furnaces.
The affected persons were immediately admitted to the Ispat General Hospital at Rourkela.

BHUBANESWAR: The State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) today approved 16 projects, including 10 new ones, with proposed investment of Rs 30,000 crore to keep the process of industrialisation rolling.

The projects once completed will generate employment to 47,000 people. Chief Secretary TK Mishra presided over the meeting of the committee.

ROURKELA: The Sundargargh district officials recently ordered closure of 41 mines for lacking statutory clearance. The affected mines owners have protested the decision on the ground that hundreds of workers will be rendered jobless.

BHUBANESWAR: With the multi-crore mining scam likely to raise storm in the Assembly tomorrow, the State Government has suspended operation in 128 mines located in the districts.

Official sources said suspension of mining activities in 128 mines has been ordered mostly for violation of laws under forest and environment clearance and non-renewal of mining permission.
