Close on the heels of quality issues related to some of the wind turbine blades supplied in the US and other parts of the world, Suzlon Energy - the fifth largest wind power equipment manufacturer in the world - is facing more problems in the US. Suzlon Rotor Corporation, its US subsidiary which manufactures wind turbine blades and nose cones at Pipestone, Minnesota, has been fined by the local Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) for allegedly violating air pollution control norms.

World's fifth largest wind turbines maker Suzlon Energy on Wednesday said its US-based arm has secured a contract from a local company in that country for supply of 200 mw. The contract is an extension to the order placed by Horizon Wind with Suzlon Wind Energy Corporation, which is a step-down subsidiary of Suzlon Energy. "The original contract calls for delivery of 400 mw of turbine capacity in 2008 and 2009, and now has been expanded to include an additional 200 mw in 2009," Suzlon Energy informed the BSE.

Pune: Suzlon Energy Ltd (SEL) signed of a new order with Kolkata-based Techno Electric Group for over 202.2 MW wind power projects for approximately Rs 1,149 crore. This order is part of a the agreement of 500 MW signed with Suzlon as the preferred supplier.
