There is no reliable or consistent evidence that wind farms directly cause human health problems, a major draft review by Australia's leading medical research body has found.

The two turbines at Michelin's Dundee factory (pictured) generated more than seven million units (kWh) of electricity last year

Concerns that giant wind farms aimed at easing climate change in fact aggravate the problem are misplaced, a scientific study said today.

REpower Systems SE, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Suzlon Group – the world’s fifth-largest manufacturer of wind turbines, has concluded with GDF-SUEZ Futures Energies two contracts, totalling 40 MW, for the supply of twenty wind turbines MM92 and MM82 types with a nominal output of 2.05 megawatts (MW) each. REpower will provide with the full maintenance of these two wind farms for a minimum of five years.

A two-megawatt floating offshore wind turbine in southwestern Japan began generating power, a group led by Toda Corp. (1860) said today.

Wind power could generate up to 18% of the world's electricity by 2050, compared with 2.6% today, according to new IEA research.

As per this IEA Wind Power Technology Roadmap 2013 Edition, the land-based wind is projected to reach an installed capacity exceeding 500 GW by 2018. China will likely have the largest cumulative capacity with a total of 185 GW, followed by the United States (92 GW), Germany (44 GW) and India (34.4 GW).

Guidance aims to help local authorities weigh up renewable energy projects against other environmental concerns
