NEW DELHI, March 14: In a fresh bid to revive the dying river Yamuna in the capital, Delhi government has now come up with a somewhat unprecedented proposal. It wants the upper riparian states too to take responsibility for ensuring that the 22-km long stretch of the river flowing through the capital remains pollution-free.

After exactly a year and over Rs 1 crore, the Municipal Corporation of Ghaziabad (MCG) claims to have brought down the pollution levels of the Hindon river.

Uttar Pradesh (UP) is all set to acquire automatic weather stations equipped with sensors thereby making weather forecasting farmer friendly. The unique facility will be put to use for the first time in India on the lines of Australia and USA.

The Allahabad high court has issued show cause notices to three officials for noncompliance of an order, asking them to initiate steps to drive away dangerous monkeys from a village in the district. The sleuths of the Special Task Force (STF) arrested two persons in Meerut and claimed to have busted a gang of skin poachers on Friday. They said that two skins of leopard were recovered from possession of the held accused along with two mobile phones. A case under various Sections of Wildlife Protection Act 1972 has been registered against them and they were send to jail.
