DEHRA DUN: A moderate tremor of 4.8 intensity on the Richter scale with epicentre north-west of Kedarnath rocked Uttarakhand at 3-13 p.m. on Monday.

Mild tremors were felt in Uttarkashi, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Dehra Dun, Chamoli, Almora and Pithoragarh but no damage was reported till reports last came in at the State Disaster Mitigation and Management Centre here.

The scare of crocodiles has driven devotees away from the ghats of the Ganga river in Hardwar.

Two crocodiles have been sighted upstream in the Ganga river in the past two days. The first crocodile was seen by devotees taking a holy dip at the Birla Ghat in the Ganga on Saturday and as the news spread across the town, panic gripped the people.
