25 countries, housing one-quarter of the population, face extremely high water stress

New data from WRI’s Aqueduct Water Risk Atlas show that 25 countries — housing one-quarter of the global population — face extremely high water stress each year, regularly using up almost their entire available water supply.

Larger issue is permitting number of hotels and visitors beyond the capacity of the environment to sustain without stringent enforcement of regulatory regime against the sustainable development principle to the detriment of flora and fauna in the area.

Grievance in the application is against illegal extraction of ground water by M/s Mitsui Kingzoku Components India Pvt. Ltd. in Rewari district in Haryana.

According to the applicant, NOC was granted to the project proponent by the ground water authority for groundwater abstraction up to 30m3/day, not exceeding 18,000 m3/year. But much more extraction is taking place.
