A recent Supreme Court order allowing bamboo harvesting in sanctuaries could pose a threat to the endangered tigers, feels the government which has decided to seek reconsideration of the direction.

A decision in this regard was taken at a recent meeting of the National Board of Wild Life (NBWL) chaired by Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh.

The Forest Department on Monday submitted before the High Court that the proposed night safari at Bannerghatta will not be allowed beyond midnight.

According to the master plan approved by the Central Zoo Authority, the visiting hours for the proposed Night Safari is between 6 pm and 11 pm on weekdays depending on season and while in weekends it will be allowed up to 12 midnight.
