Agartala: Sipahijala zoo authorities will soon launch a project of captive breeding of four endangered animals -- spectacles monkey, clouded leopard, binturong and pigtailed macaque, official sources said here on Tuesday.

All the four species of animals are found in Tripura but they are virtually on the verge of extinction elsewhere in the country.

A ten-day long environment and wild life conservation bicycle jatha organised by Bhagath Singh Rover team of Scouts and Guides Organisation Bangalore rural Anekal Taluk reached Cauvery nisargadhama near Kushalnagar on Monday.

The jatha which was flagged off at Anekal on Friday reached Kushalnagar on Sunday evening passing through Mandya, Mysore and Piriyapatna.

The thirteen member team after resting in Kushalnagar set out on the jatha on Monday morning from Cauvery Nisargadhama.

Aizawl, July 22: Out of more than 500 species of birds in Mizoram, four have been declared critically endangered, one endangered, five vulnerable, seven near threatened and nine restricted, noted ornithologist Dr Anuwaruddin Choudhury said.
