NAGAON, May 19: A world heritage site and conservation park for the one horned rhinos, Kaziranga National Park has particularly earned more than Rs 1.12 crore as revenue in the year 2008-09 from tourists, as per a report of the Tourist Department. It is very much significant that the flow of tourists in KNP has been increasing every year.

DERGAON - The flow of tourists to Kaziranga National Park (KNP), a World Heritage Site, has been increasing every year. The revenue earned from the tourists in the last financial year has also registered an increase. A sum of Rs 1,12,20,698 has been collected in 2008-2009 as revenue against an amount of Rs 87,34,185 collected in 2007-2008. The total increase has been to the tune of Rs 24,86,513.

KENDRAPARA: The Bhitarkanika forest department has imposed a two-and-half-month ban from May 15 to July 31 on entry of tourists and visitors to Bhitarkanika National Park during the mating and nesting season of salt-water crocodiles.

The forest department will also renovate five ponds at the Crocodile Breeding Centre at Dangamala within the park, said Prasanna Kumar Behera, DFO of the park.
