This edition of Pocket Book takes forward continuous endeavor to incorporate information on the emerging areas of concern relating to agriculture sector. The edition includes updated information on all the key indicators of agriculture and allied sector along with progress under various new initiatives of the Government, viz.

This is a compilation of data on various indicators of Urban India such as Demography, Employment, Transportation, Sanitation, Housing, Socio-economic Indicators and Public Expenditure on Urban Development. It also provides information the flagship schemes of the Ministry of Urban Development like Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), National Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY), Smart City Mission (SCM) and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Worsening air quality in cities, 11/02/2019. )Ambient air quality is monitored at 731 locations covering 312 cities/towns in 29 States and 6 Union Territories across the country under National Air Quality Monitoring Programme (NAMP). The ambient air quality data for million plus cities during 2015-2017 is at Annexure.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Project Elephant, 11/02/2019. The State wise details of funds allocated, released and utilized under the scheme Project Elephant during last three years is given in Annexure I. The death of elephant due to various reasons like train accident, electrocution, poaching and poisoning during the last three years, State-wise, is given in Annexure II, III, IV and V respectively. The detail of human deaths due to human-elephant conflict during the last three years, State-wise, is given in Annexure VI.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Premature deaths due to air pollution, 11/02/2019. CPCB has identified 102 non-attainment cities, violating National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), based on an analysis of ambient air quality data of the period 2011 – 2015 and WHO report 2014/2018. State-wise list of non-attainment cities is at Annexure.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Polluted stretches of the rivers, 11/02/2019. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in association with the State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs)/Pollution Control Committees (PCCs) monitors the water quality of rivers across the country through a network of monitoring stations under the National Water Quality Monitoring Programme.
