June 24: National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) officials have confirmed the existence of hematite mines in the district. The NMDC general manager, Mr Panneer Selvam, and his personnel have been conducting surveys in the district for the last two days. Their surveys made it evident that abundant hematite was available in the district.
