Rajasthan Govt. reduces VAT on diesel [1]

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan government has reduced value added tax (VAT) on diesel by two per cent, making the fuel cheaper by 60 paise per litre, and abolished the four per cent VAT on liquefied petroleum gas, reducing its price by Rs.13.42 per cylinder.

However, the government has not provided any relief on petrol.
Annual burden

State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rajendra Singh Rathore told reporters here on Saturday that the decision would put an annual burden of Rs.250 crore on the State exchequer, with Rs.200 crore for diesel and Rs.50 crore for the cooking gas.
