Water, rivers and their important ecological, socio-cultural, cultural, economic and institutional connectedness to Oceans, remain an integral part of the Asia-Pacific and international cultural landscapes of tradition. Social and cultural perspectives of water and oceans exist within a ridge-to-reef concept and capture many of the current problems that Asia-Pacific (including islands) peoples are facing every day; particularly with more recent human induced climate change.
