Order of the National Green Tribunal (Principal Bench, New Delhi) in the matter of Tribunal on its own motion Vs. Govt. of NCT, Delhi & Ors. dated 19/06/2015 regarding water supply in the city of Delhi.
The Tribunal noted that stinking and dirty water flows through the water supply lines and the borewells which provide access to the ground water are pumping out - contaminated water as a result of complete mismanagement of affairs regarding the water supply and effluent treatment. The Court also issued notices to the Government of NCT, Delhi, Delhi Jal Board, Central Ground Water Authority, Delhi Pollution Control Committee, Central Pollution Control Board, South Delhi Municipal Corporation, NDMC, North Delhi Municipal Corporation, Delhi and East Delhi Municipal Corporation to respond to the malady of the citizens.
