Order of the National Green Tribunal (Western Zone Bench, Pune) in the matter of The CEO, ZP, Ahmednagar Vs The Commissioner Municipal Corporation Ahmednagar & Others dated 29/02/2016 regarding effective handling of the sewage generated within limits of Municipal Corporation of Ahmednagar, Maharashtra.
The affidavit filed by MPCB dated 23rd February, 2016, reveals that total 60MLD sewage is generated in Municipal Corporation area and only 25% of sewage generated in old Ahmednagar city is covered by underground drainage. The affidavit also speaks about Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) of 10.5MLD at Fariya Baugh remaining inactive since 5.5.1991 and this has caused sewage generated to find its way to River-Sina.
