Judgement of the National Green Tribunal regarding loss of lives and property due to illegal dumping of MSW, Daulatpura, Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh, 18/07/2016 [1]

Judgement of the National Green Tribunal (Central Zonal Bench, Bhopal) in the matter of Sheikh Altaf & Others Vs State of Madhya Pradesh & Others dated 18/07/2016 regarding loss of lives and injuries to persons and the damage to the property attributable to illegal dumping of MSW against the old fortification walls and the illegal construction of the wall over the dilapidated fortification wall which collapsed under pressure because of an illegal MSW dumping on the side opposite.

Tribunal orders for Rs. 5 lakhs compensation with interest at the rate of 6 per cent per annum to be paid to the Applicants for damage to the property or provide them houses under existiing schemes that may be available for persons below poverty level (B.P.L) to which each of the Applicants belong against payment not exceeding Rs. 5 lakhs.
