Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Vikrant Kumar Tongad Vs. Environment Pollution (Prevention Control) Authority & Others dated 04/08/2017 regarding air pollution resulting from crop residue burning.
Court takes a stern view of the fact that in spite of the orders and judgement of the NGT the states (Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan) have failed to comply with the directions and take preventive precautionary and controlling measures for air pollution resulting from crop burning. NGT grants last and final opportunity for the states to file Action Plans with complete accountability and elements of performance, within one week.
