Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding illegal works of construction of embankment on the river bed of Mahananda, Kishanganj, Bihar, 21/08/2017 [1]

Order of the National Green Tribunal (Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata) in the matter of Manjhi Parganas Abhen Baisi Vs Aligarh Muslim University, Kishanganj, Bihar & Others dated 21/08/2017 regarding illegal works of construction of embankment and boundary wall on the river bed of Mahananda and the flood plains as well as illegal mining of minor minerals. NGT directs District Magistrate, Kishanganj to inspect the area in question and verify as to whether the allegations contained in the Original Application were correct or not and, if found to be true, the construction of embankment and boundary wall on the river bed and the flood plains as well as extraction of minor minerals shall be prohibited.
