Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Himmat Singh Shekhawat Vs. State of Rajasthan & Others dated 28/08/2018 regarding illegal mining in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka.
National Green Tribunal directs the State of Madhya Pradesh to work out the damages to the environment and the cost of restitution of the illegally mined area in the State. To enable the State of Madhya Pradesh a commitee will be constituted comprising of nominee of
i. Indian Council for Forest Research and Education, Dehradun
ii.Indian School of Mining, Dhanbad
iii. Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal.
Court also directs the States of Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka to give reports of illegal mining, transportation and storage. Committee has been directed to furnish its report within three months.
