Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding encroachments on Kothari river near Bhilwara, Rajasthan, 21/02/2019 [1]

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Sajjan Sodani Vs State of Rajasthan & Others dated 21/02/2019 regarding encroachments on Kothari river near Bhilwara, Rajasthan and dumping of domestic, industrial and other waste, including bio-medical waste allegedly dumped by Keshav Hospital, Bhilwara. NGT had directed the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB) and the District Magistrate, Bhilwara to look into the matter and furnish a report. The Tribunal was also informed that notice was issued to the Municipal Council Bhilwara for the discharge of untreated domestic sewage in the municipal drain which was meeting the river and Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste was also being dumped in the river.

NGT directs SPCB to give a final report of the action taken, including taking of Performance Guarantee from the concerned local body for complying with the defects within specified time and recovery of compensation for damage to the environment.
