Counter affidavit by the Municipal Commissioner, Maraimalai Nagar Municipality, Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu. The matter related to pollution of Guduvancheri lake. A newspaper report had said that sewage from households in Nadivaram - Guduvancheri town panchayats and Maraimaalai Nagar Municipality was being discharged in the lake, apart from effluents from private hospitals and clinics in that area.

The affidavit cited the Joint Committee report which had inspected the area in question and stated that no solid waste or sewage discharge was being done by the Panchayat. The municipality was also taking effective steps for collecting daily waste and dispose of the same following the Solid Waste Rules 2016.
