Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of University of Delhi Vs Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change & Others dated 27/08/2021.

The appeal was filed against grant of EC by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), for construction of group housing with built up area of 137879.64 Sqm at 1, 3 Cavalry Lane and 4 Chhatra Marg Near Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station, New Delhi by M/s. Young Builders Pvt. Ltd. The project involves construction of 38 floors and 446 flats in the vicinity of Delhi University. According to the appellants, the project would seriously jeopardise the environment – the air quality, traffic management, water availability, waste disposal.

The NGT directed notice to be issued to MoEF&CC and the project proponent (M/s. Young Builders Pvt. Ltd.) and till further orders no further steps for construction and development of the project would take place.
