Order of the National Green Tribunal (Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata) in the matter of Bishnu Pada Pakhira Vs Union of India & Others dated 16/09/2021. The matter is related to illegal operation of hotels, resorts situated within the coastal area of Mandarmani sea beach, West Bengal.

The court noted that Consent to Operate has been issued to 45 hotels without considering the issue of Central Regulatory Zone. The Tribunal wondered how CTO was issued, when the CRZ Notification was not placed before the court. Further, West Bengal and Odisha have been asked to file an affidavit bringing on record the CRZ Notification within six weeks.
