Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Vasu Singh Vs State of Uttarakhand dated 23/03/2022.
Grievance in the application is against dumping of toxic and other solid waste near Mansa Devi Temple complex by shopkeepers in Rajaji Tiger Reserve area, Uttarakhand and failure of the concerned authorities of the Rajaji Tiger Reserve to take remedial action. As a result of such dumping, health of the animals and birds is adversely affected.
The NGT directed a Joint Committee to undertake a visit to the sites in question and take remedial action to prevent dumping of waste and removing encroachment. The joint committee has also been directed to ensure remedial action against encroachment of seasonal rivulets in the Rajaji Tiger Reserve.
