The District Magistrate, Coimbatore and the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Coimbatore was directed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT), October 17 to look into the matter of unscientific management of a dump site in Comibatore. The petitioner, V. Eswaran said that despite the court orders (October 10, 2018 in O.A. Nos. 523/2018 and O.A. No. 524/2018), the dump site has not been remediated and fresh waste is being dumped. And on account of unscientific management of the dump site, a woman died while collecting plastic waste, April 8, 2022.
