A joint committee comprising District Magistrate Gopalganj and Bihar State Pollution Control Board was directed by the NGT to look into the matter of poultry farms causing pollution in village Jigna Jaganath, Meerganj, district Gopalganj, Bihar.

It was alleged that two poultry farms was in uttar violation of environmental norms and laws, causing huge air pollution in the village, creating health hazards to the local inhabitants and villagers. It was said that poisonous gases and bad odour were being emitted from the poultry farms which are not being managed scientifically and therefore, serious pollution is being caused in the area concerned.
