Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Varun Gulati Vs Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department, Uttar Pradesh & Others dated 22/09/2023.

In this application, the applicant has raised the issue of not filling up the posts of concerned officers in Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB). It has been disclosed that as against the total 732 sanctioned posts, 293 posts are lying vacant i.e. 40 per cent posts are vacant which is affecting the functioning of the UPPCB.

The NGT directed notice to be issued to the state of Uttar Pradesh and the UPPCB. "The functioning of UPPCB has direct effect on the implementation of environmental laws," the NGT said. The next date of hearing has been listed for December 14, 2023.
