Report on behalf of the Joint Committee and Delhi Pollution Control Committee with respect to the National Green Tribunal order, September 4, 2023.

The matter related to groundwater extraction and compliance of norms for such extractions by hotels and guest houses in Pahar Ganj, Delhi.

A joint inspection was carried out by the representatives of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and revenue department of 536 hotels/guest houses. Out of 536, 185 hotels/guest houses who were found using groundwater had a voluntary disclosure scheme (VDS). And 257 hotels were extracting groundwater without having VDS.

The action against the hotels found extracting groundwater without VDS is under process.
