Order of the National Green Tribunal (Central Zonal Bench, Bhopal) in the matter of Kirtikumar Sadashiv Bhatt Vs Narmada Water Resource & Others dated 02/12/2024.

The matter relates to the discharge of untreated water into the waterbody in Narmada and encroachment.

Affidavit dated November 28, 2024 has been filed by the Engineer in Chief, Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Committee with a progress report. The report showed the tabular representation of progress in the work of STPs for all cities/towns, marked therein. Projects for Amarkantak, Jabalpur, Bhedaghat, Saikheda have been completed 100 per cent. Work on the construction of STP at Dindori has been completed upto 90 per cent; for Mandla, completion of work for construction of STP is 76.79 per cent; for construction of STP at Narsinghpur, work progress is shown as 85.50 per cent and the progress report for Narmadapuram, Hoshangabad, the status of the project shown as only 25 per cent work completed. The report stated that the contractor has stopped work after July 14, 2022.

As far as completion of the project for construction of STP at Narmadapuram / Hoshangabad is concerned, the NGT directed the project to be completed and made functional by December 31, 2025 and affidavit of compliance to be filed by January 15, 2026.
