Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Sheikh Nizamuddin Vs State of Madhya Pradesh & Others dated 04/12/2024.

The matter related to violation of Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 and encroachment on the forest land in Raghogarh tehsil, district Guna. It was alleged that some persons have by way of encroaching the land converted it for personal use in violation of environmental rules.

Counsel for the state of Madhya Pradesh stated that 99 hectares of land has been freed from encroachments and action is being taken for removal of encroachments from the remaining land of 60 hectares. Counsel further submitted that the encroachments from the remaining land of 60 hectares would also be removed for which one month time may be granted to the authorities.

NGT granted one month time to the authorities to remove the encroachments from the remaining land of 60 hectares and file an affidavit of compliance by January 15, 2025.
