Affidavit by government of Uttar Pradesh in OA No 693 of 2023 OF SUO Moto matter in re News item appearing in Deccan Herald dated 24.10.2023 entitled Pollution control boards are weak links.

The report is dated January 24, 2025.  The report was in compliance with the NGT order, September 11, 2024. The NGT had directed states/UT's to fill up the posts lying vacant in the SPCBs/PCCs latest by April 30, 2025. Furthermore, the NGT had also directed the PCBs/PCCS to make all possible efforts within this period to provide adequate infrastructure in the laboratories of the PCBs/PCCs and to make them fully functional.

The NGT was informed that vide letter dated August 24, 2024 and October 30, 2024 the UPSSSC has given its recommendation regarding 42 posts of Junior Engineer against 43 vacant posts. In pursuance to the above recommendation the UPPCB has issued an office order dated September 10, 2024 and November 12, 2024 regarding appointment of Junior Engineers against 42 posts. Against the 42 vacant posts of Junior Engineer 27 vacant posts has been filled and they have taken charge on the said posts.
