Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of News Item titled "CAG faults city’s waste processing" appearing in the Shillong Times dated 16.09.2024 dated 24/03/2025.

Reply affidavit dated March 21, 2025 has been filed by the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills district, Shillong. The affidavit stated that two revenue meetings at district level for reviewing the progress of solid waste management in Shillong city November 6, 2024 and March 18, 2025 was held. The Urban Affairs Department has been requested to expeditiously identify and operationalize the new landfill site as the site at Marten is nearing its capacity. Request has also been made to the Shillong Municipal Board to ensure more efficient waste segregation at source level itself. The NGT directed the Urban Affairs Department and Shillong Municipal Board to file their reply.
