Due to scarcity of land and non-participation of bidder in the bidding process for construction of proposed fresh waste processing plant, the fresh waste processing plant at Barasat municipality has not been developed. Therefore, fresh waste from Barasat municipality has accumulated at Pramodnagar dump site which is "beyond control of the administration". The total quantity of waste to be processed at Pramodnagar/Rajivnagar site is 11 lakh MT.
