Judgement of the National Green Tribunal (Principal Bench, New Delhi) in the matter of Parminder Singh Vs. Punjab PCB & Ors dated 23/09/2015 regarding pollution caused by M/S Matharu Chemical Industries, Sangrur District, Punjab.

According to the petitioners the said unit was manufacturing H-acid, i.e. Sodium Salt, which is highly toxic in nature and the waste material, from the process of manufacturing is highly hazardous to the environment.

The appeal filed by the Appellant (Steel Authority of India) against the assessment order dtd. 31.01.1994 passed by the Member Secretary, MPPCB assessing an amount of Rs. 21,75,231/- as liability under Section 6 of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Cess Act, 1977 for the water consumed by the Appellant during the period from 01.04.1978 to 31.05.1993 was assessed.

Union of India & Others dated 22/09/2015 regarding guidelines framed for the implementation of the Biodiversity Act and Rules pertaining to the Bio Diversity Cess for benefit sharing as well as the declaration of the area in question as biodiversity heritage site.
