Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Society for Environmental Protection, Amaravati V/s Union of India & Ors. dated 10/03/2014 regarding establishment of a thermal based power plant in the MIDC area and its exemption from the process of Public Hearing. The Tribunal has noted that "the affidavit of MoEF, communicate that if the project is within MIDC area, then Public Hearing/Consultation, is not required, because the State
Authority gives permission for establishment of such industry/plant".

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Ramdas Janardan Koli Vs The State of Maharashtra dated 11/03/2014 regarding constructions by CIDCO and others in CRZ area. The Tribunal has ordered that "there shall be no further work carried out for reclamation and particularly, in respect of shortening of width of the channel/draft, available for egress and ingress of the tidal currents and boats of the fishermen in the creek area, as shown in the
map about which the complaint has been made and which is likely to create a bottle neck".

Order of the National Green Tribunal (Western Zone Bench, Pune) in the matter of Dr.Udaykumar Vasantrao Jagtap Vs Saswad Mun. Council & Ors dated 10/03/2014 regarding pollution of Karha River, Saswad, Pune, Maharashtra. The Tribunal has noted that "from the record, it appears prima facie that Sewage is being discharged in the river without any treatment and as such, pollution of water, contamination of water is rather undisputed by MPCB, and appears to be also clear on account of reports of water quality".

The Forest and Environment Department has sought a year’s extension for completion of the Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) of the State.

The expert committee in the Trimbakeshwar river pollution case on Sunday visited the place to study the situation to suggest solutions.

NGT Action Sought In The Matter

Lucknow: Illegal sand mining is posing the biggest threat to the last of the wild and breeding ghariyals left. Found in maximum strength in National Chambal Sanctuary running across three states- UP, MP and Rajasthan, ghariyals are losing out to human interference.

Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) is yet to get on with survey of encroachments around Siddique Hassan Khan Talab. Also, the state government hasn't yet drafted a rehabilitation policy for encroachers around the water body.

Taking a serious view, National Green Tribunal (NGT) central zone bench ordered the BMC and the state government to expedite work around the talab.

Order of the National Green Tribunal (Principal Bench, New Delhi) in the matter of Nalwaya Minerals India Pvt. Ltd. Vs State of Rajasthan Ors. dated 07/03/2014 regarding closure of mining activity of the Applicant, Rajasthan. The Applicant has been carrying on mining activity since 1963. Lastly, they were granted diversion permission for a period of ten years vide order dated 08.08.2000 vide annexure–8. Thereafter, upon expiry of the said period, the diversion permission has not been granted resulting closure of the mining activity of the Applicant.

Order of the National Green Tribunal (Principal Bench, New Delhi) in the matter of M/s Shiva Recycling Energy Vs. Raj. S.P.C. B. & Ors. dated 07/03/2014 regarding pollution caused by industry. The Tribunal has pointed out in its order that reports show that the Applicant is violating the prescribed parameters and is causing emissions in violation to the prescribed standards. This obviously means that the industry is a seriously polluting industry.
