 Paradise submerged? [1]

the Maldives may soon disappear from the global map due to the rise in the sea level of the Indian Ocean. Researchers at the Antarctic Research Centre in Hobart, Australia say that the sea level has risen by 3.55 cm during the last 25 years. If the Ocean rises by nearly 50 cm, the island may become a mariner's memory. Out of the total 1,191 Maldivian islands, most of them are expected to submerge in the sea within the next 100 years.

According to a un scientific panel, the greenhouse effect may lead to a rise in sea level by 91 cm by the next century. Researchers dis-covered that the Ocean water has warmed by 0.5
