l Thirteen of the 15 members of the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (PCB) have a non-technical background

l In the Karnataka PCB, 65 per cent of the sanctioned posts are lying vacant

l Goa PCB has less than two technical personnel to monitor every 100 polluting units

l Punjab, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu PCBs have inventorised less than 15 per cent of all the highly polluting units in the state

l Gujarat PCB does not have a regional office in the industrialised district of Ahemdabad to monitor polluting units

l PCBs spend 57 per cent of the primary expenditure on administrative purposes with negligible spending on pollution prevention activities, research, development and training

l Only 40 per cent of highly polluting units in Haryana have necessary equipment to comply with standards
