Anandpur Sahib in Punjab will soon become the first solar city of India. The project is being implemented by the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) through the promotion and development of non-conventional energy sources in Anandpur Sahib. This is being done on the occasion of the Khalsa tercentenary celebrations.

"The project, estimated to cost Rs 196 lakh, would be jointly funded by the Punjab government and Union ministry of non-conventional energy,' said PEDA chairperson Y S Ratna.
