 ANGOLA [1]

A family of eight elephants was donated by South Africa to Angola. This has been done to revive Angola's Quicama National Park. Many more animals will be transferred to the park in the near future. The park is devoid of animals due to widespread poaching and destruction of the region's herbaceous vegetation. South Africa's National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty Against Animals ( nscpa ) has given its approval to the donation. "We have been given the assurance that precautions will be taken to protect the elephants,' the officials of nscpa stated. However, according to animal rights groups in South Africa, the government will not be able to protect the relocated animals and they will be poached "within days'.
