The International Wetland Day was celebrated throughout the world on February 2. If one goes by the wetlands in Uttar Pradesh, it is a bleak scene altogether. According to the 1996 report of the Remote Sensing Centre, the total number of wetlands in the state were 2508 but they are also disappearing at the rate of 1.2 per cent per year.
