 LAGOS [1]

Amid environmental concerns, the Lagos government is planning to ban the sale of mineral water packed in cellophane paper. "Sachets carelessly thrown away are blocking drainage channels designed to take away running flood water to canals,' claims Dele Alake, the country's commissioner for information and strategy. This is proving to be a major hurdle in the government's efforts to deflood the state. "Therefore, an ultimatum to consumers, producers and distributors of mineral water has been issued. They should soon take steps for the safe disposal of the packaging or the threat of the ban would be implemented,' said Alake.
