People living on the fringes of north Bengal forests will soon have pucca houses that not only ensure a comfort but also protect them from elephant raids.
The state housing department has allotted funds for the first phase of the project during which 431 houses will be constructed in Jalpaiguri forest division. A total of 3,000 houses would be constructed during the project.
