At least eight persons have so far been killed due to heavy rain, floods and landslides in the Kegalle, Galle, Gampaha, Colombo and Kalutara districts, the Disaster Management Center said More than 17,000 persons have been affected as a result of the inclement weather, it said.
Landslides had caused most of the deaths while a case of lightning and drowning were also reported.
