The Union environment ministry has asked Naveen Jindal-owned Jindal Steel & Power to respond to allegations that it had built its coal washery at Raigarh in Chhattisgarh without environmental clearance, reports Meera Mohanty from New Delhi. While the Ministry of Environment & Forests approves washeries of more than 100,000 tonnes per annum capacity, state boards can clear smaller ones.
