Jharkhand has been granted Rs 432 crore to construct 10,000 anganwadi centres over the next five years and fight an alarmingly high incidence of anaemia among women and small girls.
The money, granted by the 13th Finance Commission to the state welfare department, assumes significance as of the 38,432 existing anganwadi centres in the state, only 17,000 have their own buildings.
