A combination of solar and hydroelectric power generation with pumped storage can provide a solution to the State's power woes and form the backbone of a sustainable energy system for Kerala, according to R.V.G. Menon, social activist and former director of the Agency for Non-Conventional Energy and Rural Technology (ANERT).
