Industrialists, traders and other residents of the city raised objections to the proposed hike in power tariff. Representatives of Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) were in the city, on Monday, for a public hearing on the issue at the Institute of Engineers, Sector 19.
UT Administration has proposed a hike of around 50 per cent in the electricity tariff. There had been an increase of around 25 per cent in the last financial year as well.
