Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding pollution of River Yamuna, 09/02/2016 [1]

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Manoj Kumar Misra & Anr. Vs. Union of India & Ors. dated 09/02/2016 regarding pollution of river Yamuna.

The Tribunal came down heavily on Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and said in its order that " DJB has spent thousands and thousands of Crores of rupees on sewage and establishment of STPs but the resultant pollution of River Yamuna continues and does not require anything more to be said that it has gone from bad to worse".

NGT also ordered a team of experts to be constituted consisting of Member Secretary of the Central Pollution Control Board, Member Secretary Delhi Pollution Control Committee,
Chief Engineer of DJB, Chief Engineer of DDA and Professor Kosa from IIT Delhi which will submit its report within ten days to the Tribunal.
