Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of M/s A. Purushottam Chitrapur Vs. Union of India & Others dated 16/12/2016 regarding Yettinahole water diversion project. Counsel appearing for the State of Karnataka submits about 6000 trees have been fell/cut, however, in lieu thereof approximately 3200 trees have been planted under the scheme of afforestation. This statement is disputed by the counsel appearing for the Applicants. According to them they have already fell more than 15000 trees approximately and they do not even have proper permission from the Competent Authority.
